Free Potted Cactus Pattern

Do you dread sewing too? High-five! Then you have came to the right place.

I keep the need for sewing in my patterns to the minimum!

All patterns are written in US crochet terms.

​

I used worsted weight yarn and 3mm hook, but feel free to use other types of yarn and the corresponding hook size.

​

All patterns are worked in continuous rounds, unless otherwise stated.

​

You are welcome to sell the finished products, but please credit me as the designer.

Big Cactus

With green colour yarn:

​

Round 1: magic ring with 6sc [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Round 3: 12sc [12]

Round 4: (sc, inc) x 6 [18]

Round 5: 18sc [18]

Round 6: (sc, inc, sc) x 6 [24]

Round 7: 24sc [24]

Round 8: (3sc, inc) x 6 [30]

Round 9 - 12: 30sc [30]

Round 13: (3sc, dec) x 6 [24]

Round 14: 24sc [24]

Round 15: (sc, dec, sc) x 6 [18]

Round 16: 18sc [18]

Round 17: (sc, dec) x 6 [12]

Fasten off. Cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

Abbreviations

sl st: slip stitch

sc: single crochet

inc: increase (2sc in one stitch)

dec: decrease (1sc over two stitches)

FLO: front loop only

BLO: back loop only

Small Cactus

In green colour yarn:

Round 1: magic ring with 6sc [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Round 3 - 5: 12sc [12]

Round 6: dec x 6 [6]

Fasten off. Cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

​

Sew Small Cactus onto Big Cactus.

Flower

In yellow colour yarn:

​

Step 1: magic ring with 1 ch

Step 2: ch3, sc back to magic ring

Step 3 - 6: repeat Step 2.

​

Tighten the magic ring. Cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

​

Sew Flower onto Small Cactus.

Soil

With dark brown colour yarn:

​

Round 1: magic ring with 6sc [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 [18]

Round 4: (sc, inc, sc) x 6 [24]

Round 5: (3sc, inc) x 6 [30]

​

Fasten off. Cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

​

Sew Big Cactus onto the center of Soil.

Terracotta Pot (join rounds)

With light brown colour yarn:

​

Round 1: magic ring with 6sc [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 [18]

Round 4: (sc, inc, sc) x 6 [24]

Round 5: BLO 24sc [24]

Round 6 - 7: 24sc [24]

Round 8: (3sc, inc) x 6 [30]

Round 9 - 10: 30sc [30]

Round 11: (2sc, inc, 2sc) x 6 [36]

Round 12: FLO 36sc [36]

Round 13: 36sc [36]

Round 14: 36 sl st [36]

​

Cut yarn, make an invisible finish and hide yarn tail.

Assembly

Sew Soil to Terracotta Pot along the second row from the Pot's edge.

​

Stuff the pot lightly before finishing off.

​

Add weights (e.g., rice) to the stuffing to make the work stand.
